A reflection on ethical reasoning presents an account that is personally informative and interesting. My experience with the learning process regarding ethical decisions is informed by a reflection on the ethical reasoning process and all the underlying steps in that regard. Emerging questions in regard to the ethical reasoning experience define and describe my experience with the learning process. One of the primary questions in this line entails the relevance of the ethical reasoning processes.

In my own experience, these processes enhance the steps taken to resolve ethical issues in the business setting. In order to apply ethical reasoning processes appropriately, effectively, and efficiently, it is important to understand all the critical variables and factors that affect the matter at hand. By understanding the issue being dealt with, the application of ethical reasoning steps becomes easy and enhances the final outcome of the entire activity (Miller & Cross, 2012, p.118).

Decision-making in an ethical issue context is characterized by the presence of variant alternative choices that the decision-maker can choose from (Braybrooke, 2003, p.68). The question is: What determines the best choice from a list of alternative choices? The ethical reasoning process can take up to three different choices for the same ethical concern. The learning process experience presented an aspect where alternative choice settled at is determined by the manner in which the parties involved seek to address the underlying issue or concern. Personal choice, organizational choice, and choices offered by social and economic systems could be the answer to the matter at hand (Madura, 2006, p.251; Murray, 1997, p.183). In the light of my ethical reasoning experience, before settling at the most relevant and appropriate choice, the parties involved in the ethical reasoning process should consider the most influential variables or factors that relate to the issue or concern at hand.

The ethical reasoning experience is highly informative and an educative process. A successful ethical reasoning activity is characterized by the need to understand the context and rationale of an ethical issue (Clarkson, Miller, Jentz, & Cross, 2008, p.274). By the end of the ethical reasoning activity, a resolution must be arrived at. What are the motivating factors in addressing ethical concerns? The ethical reasoning process is undertaken step by step (Mandal, 2010, p.90), an aspect that informed my experience in the learning process. I learned that an approach to an ethical issue first identifies the problem and then moves towards a solution. The ethical reasoning experience enhanced my approach to decision-making processes, in and out of an ethical context.
