High expectations by a professor or adviser can encourage a student to do better, whereas low expectations may result in a mediocre performance. As highlighted in the article, Project X enabled students to apply the various skills honed during their stay at the university. By encouraging greater participation and teamwork, the skills acquired ensures success in setting goals, managing time, knowing and using learning styles, critical and creative thinking, reading, note-taking, test-taking, writing, quantitative learning, and defining a personal and professional mission.

For example, the students specialize in the field of endeavor they are most interested in. Flexibility is also accorded in terms of giving students the chance to select elective subjects which they believe would enhance their profession. Finally, just like in the X factor project, being given the opportunity to build an artists’ residence at UNSW’s Arid Zone is challenging enough for amateur students, yet more importantly, very rewarding. The opportunity paves the way for students to realize that they are equipped and qualified to apply all the theories learned in the university.

The method that this university provides makes each and every student proud to show the world that the skills honed are skills that would contribute to the development of society in the future. Indeed, education provides innumerable benefits for individuals and society, as a whole.
