THE INTERNET AND FAME Task The Internet and Fame Internet refers to the wired or wireless mode of communication where the involved people receive and transmit information for varied operations. Initially, the computer era focused on operating systems and the programming languages. During period, people devalued the era because they considered it destructive to the world. However, this is not the case because the era enhanced communication (Schwabach 2006, p. 68). The internet has benefited different sectors, for example, it connects different universities around the globe in sharing their research data online. Additionally, the internet has made people disregard paper work they can save their data online and access them regardless of their location. The internet currently acts as a worldwide broadcasting capability. It is a mechanism for disseminating information and a medium for interaction and collaboration (Schwabach 2006, p. 68). It is possible for individuals to become famous on internet because they can take several steps to enhance their fame. It is vital for persons to understand their passion by comprehending what they like. Additionally, individuals should acknowledge their beliefs and set their personal goals by understanding their needs in life. Individuals should also understand the reasons for their need to become famous. Afterwards, they should learn how to develop a website and master aspects associated with the computer especially the HTML and copy pasting (Liu 2007, p.44). The individuals should then join different social network and ensure that they make many. These social networks include MySpace, YouTube, face book, Gmail, and twitter. These networks are important for individuals who are interested in becoming famous on the internet because high percentages of the internet people are friendlier. After joining the social network, the interested individuals can open up a website indicating their likes and come up with links that they can ask their friends to view (Liu, 2007, p.44). After opening up a page, people will comment on it. It is important that the interested individuals reply on their profile or public page but not privately, because people can become nosy. Additionally, persons interested in becoming famous on the internet broadcasts their IM screen names, URLs, their net addresses and links to every site that they visit. They should also ensure that they come up with sincere comments on their pages instead of copy pasting information from other sources (Harris 2008, p.21). This is because when someone writes something personal, it will be attractive. This will make many internet users interested in checking out the page. Additionally, people interested in becoming famous on the internet should create a website that rhymes with their personality and guarantee that their pages are updated daily. This is because failure to maintain their webpage will make other web users ignore the interested party because they will consider them less concerned. Additionally, friends can also endorse individuals consequently helping them to become famous. It is fundamental for persons interested in becoming famous to purchase marketing e-books and seek more information on online marketing. They should ensure that they check their page daily basis for them to reply the constructive comments and give less attention to immature comments and unproductive feedback (Great Britain, 2008, p. 369). For people to become famous on the internet, they should be careful on what information they share with their friends as some people can interfere with delicate personal information. Finally, it is vital for persons interested in becoming famous in the internet to believe in themselves and know that they can support themselves in becoming unique and having fun. Young people are becoming more famous on the internet compared to the old people. This makes the old people to recall the old days when it was very difficult for one to become famous because it required hard work. This condition was attributable to the lack of internet that forced musicians and other interested parties to search for agents to promote their act (Krafft & Mantrala, 2007, p.121). It is very easy for individuals to become famous in the contemporary society, as the internet is a major driving factor. Even though internet does not make every involved person famous, the research by the American media group indicated that more young people are becoming famous based on the internet. This is because the young people have more information concerning internet and varying technology on the market. This helps them use the technology to promote their fame. Additionally, young people dominate the internet because they can deal with criticism and the negative aspects associated with fame (Barfield 2003, p.217). There are many ways of becoming famous in the internet. Social sites that appeal to masses facilitate popularity. The first step is getting access to the internet and knowing how to use it. This follows with calculated moves aimed at attracting people to like and maintain an online following. The varied avenues for facilitating fame includes blogs, websites, face book, twitter, joining forums and groups, and upgrading one’s profile (Ward, 2011, p. 24) Starting a website is a crucial strategy to getting famous. Many famous people already own websites. However, unpopular people can start their websites on the internet. The key procedure is to devise attractive ideas that will attract a big following. The owner can choose a selling topic or devise a topic that will appeal to many people. This is called the ‘killer content’. Frequent updating of the website with new and marketable ideas will realize a significant following. The website could hold varied information that sees the viewer address most of the demanded contents and give personal feedback to keep the fans coming back (Holmes 2005, p. 19). Blogging is also an efficient path to popularity. Many people have become famous just by blogging. They may assume protagonist or antagonistic positions on varied issues affecting the society. This allows them to attract a major following of the online community. The secret to getting famous is to maintain frequency, consistency and timeliness. Most famous bloggers are frequent at posting catchy materials online. Moreover, bloggers also widen the interactive space by replying to their fans comments. This makes the fans to feel connected in the cyber space. It is also a strategy to ensure that one maintains their fans (Ward, 2011, p. 24). Face book is a social networking site that connects people living in close proximity. It ranks second after Google in terms of daily visits. It can be an efficient marketing strategy for trendy ideas and fashion. Face book can accelerate popularity because it has a wide following and provides a better chance of reaching your known friends and their friends. One joins by creating a fan page, adding a link, uploading a photo and blogging. Frequent observations on what is new on face book and getting ingrained into the culture facilitates contact with the new friends. After developing rapport, one may request them to like your fan page or they will do it without request (Ward, 2011, p. 24). Twitter is the newest social sites that focus on already famous people. However, it is easy to be famous on twitter. The idea behind twitter is to follow people online. As an individual follows people, it is likely that they too might follow one. One needs to stand out from the other followers to maintain relevance. This is achievable through clarity in delivering opinions and maintaining slight controversy that will appeal for attention from the other participants (Waters, 2010, p. 12). Joining forums and groups is helpful in becoming famous. Once a member, an individual should ensure that he welcomes new members and encourage them to maintain their contribution. This will make them stand out and have other people appreciate their contribution. Groups are accessible through face book, blogs or twitter or group websites (Waters, 2010, p. 12). The introduction of the internet era has changed human life in different ways. It offers people with interest of becoming famous several opportunities. The internet has benefited different people because it has transformed them to worldwide superstars. Additionally, other people have achieved a stardom status because of internet (Bidgoli, 2003, p.160). For example, Justin Bieber, who uploaded videos of himself showing off his singing talent was lucky to be noticed by the right people. Even though, the internet can make people famous, it is fundamental to be careful (Barfield, 2003, p. 217). It is equally true that when individuals become famous online, they can be only famous in specific regions. This would make them not to enjoy worldwide acclaim (Brown, 2006, p. 56). It is also possible that individuals can upload information but fail to become famous. Consequently, individuals who upload their videos online should ensure that they upload good videos broadcasting their talents. They should also apply varying approaches and social networking for them to draw attention to their internet videos and related information (Barfield, 2003, p. 217). Conclusively, a well-written profile is like a CV in the online world. One must ensure that his or her profile is marketable with an appealing format and language for him to become famous. It is possible to become popular using tactful and premeditated moves that take advantage of the information requirements and dependence on the internet medium as a source of information (Holmes 2005, p. 19). A video needs to be visually clear and audible. However, it is important to utilize the internet cautiously because of the prevalence of cyber crime. The materials posted on the internet can result in permanent character destruction and legal suits.
