Finally, formal dress suggests that communication will be formal and professional. Question A2 The communicator has the responsibility of preparing a good presentation, being clear and concise and punctual. The communicator should also deliver an address that is ethical. On the other hand, the audience has the responsibility of listening intently and responding to the speakers (Management Communication) To be understood and respected by the audience the speaker has to take care of his responsibilities. On the other hand, the audience can only understand the message by hearing it without interfering with the speaker. The introduction informs the reader about both teams and adds that Celtics are runaway leaders in the Scottish Premier league (Management Communication) The body talks about the proceeding of the football match and mostly dwells on the goals scored. The conclusion reports that both teams came close to scoring in the closing stages of the match. Finally, the residual information informs the audience that Rangers former coach has thanked the players after leaving his job. The attention statement catches the reader’s eye immediately but the closure statement is not clear. Question A6 There is no justifiable use of doublespeak as its use obscures the meaning and leads to misunderstanding of the message (Management Communication) For example the US bailout of banks can confuse investors as it was later termed as an investment by the government in the banks. Such misunderstandings may lead to losses for investors who put their money in the badly managed banks. If these expectations are expressed to the affected persons they influence the outcomes of their life  (Management Communication). For example, when a teacher forms the expectation that his students will fail as they are not good performers they are most likely to fail. Phycologists link this to the fact that people adapt their behaviour to the expectations of thoe close to them. Time-oriented listening Advantage These listeners are satisfied with short messages although some details may be missing. Disadvantages They become impatient and interested in lengthy deliveries. The writer tries as much as possible to use a language that will be understood and that is respectful to the intended audience (Management Communication) For example, letters written to your employer are formal and respect the hierarchy of authority flowing from the employer to employee. On the other hand, a letter written home to your mother is more casual. For example, when an employee takes a business trip to China and is required to write back to his home office about progress. The letter is likely to be formal and detail work oriented issues. In contrast, if he/she is writing to friends about your trip to China you will focus on the beauty and pleasure of your trip to China. This letter is meant for an American audience as father's day is an important holiday to the Americans. Question A20 A speaker can prepare a speech for a diverse audience by first investing time to know his/her audience. After knowing the audience, the speaker should prepare a message that is appealing and appropriate for the given audience (Management Communication) Appeal is concerned with delivering a message that will stimulate the interest of the audience. On the other hand, appropriateness is concerned with the compatibility of a message with the audience. To get these factors right, the speaker has to study and understand the audience past and background. For example, it is important not to be racially insensitive when addressing migrants. Question A21. Considering the rhetorical situation allows the speaker to appreciate the view of the audience. It also allows the speaker to choose the best ways to communicate to the audience (Management Communication). This transition to the audience’s viewpoint helps in getting the audience to be more responsive and to listen intently to the message. An ethical speech reflects respect for the audience and shows that the speaker has their interest and needs in mind. An ethical speech avoids prejudice which might offend members or the audience or at worst stigmatize others. When a speaker shows respect to his audience he balances the interdependence with the audience. Once the speakers dominance is eliminatedthe audience are able to fulfil their listening and response role. He introduces his journey to the presidency from the time he moved to Chicago as a young man. In the body, he talks about the progression of American Democracy and uses this as a background to highlight his ascendancy to the presidency as a monumental victory for civil rights. He also discusses several threats to American Democracy and the need for Americans to unite and fight injustice (Management Communication).He concludes by thanking Americans for the great support they offered him during the presidential term. The residual message reminds Americans they have a great role in keeping their own country.
