These online networking websites manage to create an online community of internet users Chen and Bryer (2012). It is within these communities, that users are able to network with each other. However, the topics that users share on these online networking websites depend on the nature of website under consideration. Users can share information concerning politics, religion, or a current social phenomenon such as allowing gay marriages, or women catholic priests. This paper takes a stand that social networking is an efficient tool of disseminating information.

This is because through the social media, people are able to share their thoughts and ideas, with their online community members. They are also able to receive some feedbacks from their friends in the particular social website where they shared information. Social networking is an important activity that forms the patterns of an individual’s daily life. This is because it creates a communication channel with so many people all over the world. Ever since the creation of social websites such face book, my space and linked, people have the opportunity to make new friends and meet new people, as a result, they are able to share information and their own experiences concerning certain issues.

Take for example face book; users are able to view the profiles of their online friends, posts their thoughts on their face book wall, for purposes of waiting for a feed back, and even comment on the other peoples walls. On this basis therefore, it is accurate to denote that social websites such as face book, my space and linked play a significant role in promoting communication amongst people of diverse cultural groups. George VanDoorn and Antoinette Eklund, in their article “Face to Face book: Social media, learning, teaching of potential, symmetrical and synchrous communication”, denotes that “social networking gives students and teachers an opportunity to communicate effectively”, (2013).

This statement from these two authors supports my assertions that social networking helps in promoting communication amongst users. Examples of other social sites that are interactive and teachers can use to provide their lessons include Skype. Skype enable users to communicate with each other via the internet and by using a video link. Chen and Bryer (2012) on the other hand observe that teachers use the social media for purposes of connecting the informal and formal styles of education. This is for the main purpose of allowing students to be able to form meaning from whatever lessons that they are being offered in class.

This stand by Chen and Bryer (2012) directly supports the stand taken by VanDoorn and Eklund (2013) denoting that the social media helps to improve communication between teachers and learners. Information technology plays an important role in the creation of social websites, and hence promoting communication. Without technology, it is impossible to develop a website. It requires a developer to have knowledge on the PHP computer programming language, so that he or she could develop an interactive website such as face book.

Because of this technology, it is possible for an individual to post his or her thoughts at their walls, and in turn expect some feedbacks. PHP programming language enables users to update current events, and any other piece of information that majority of people would like to share and hear. Through this process of
