Critical Responses Loss of Original Concepts Across Platforms The migration towards digitization has brought forthchanges in entertainment platforms. These changes will continue to be experienced as long as the entertainment industry continues to incorporate aspects of the new media. The detrimental effect is that as new strategies are adopted, the meaning from the original script is likely lost hence there occurs inconsistency in communication of the original message. The shift of entertainment from one platform to another causes loss of the original concept. However, this loss is not necessarily negative; some valuable concepts are added while some of the bad concepts are removed. On the other hand, multiple platforms are very beneficial since they are able to break down the original concepts into items that are understood by diverse groups of people. Whenever a new entertainment platform is used, it is only sensible and appropriate to apply additional creativity so that the need for entertainment is satisfied through that other platform. Very few platforms have the capacity of retaining the original content; a change of the content out rightly results in loss of the original concepts that were highlighted by the original author (Koku, 1995). There are many examples that can be used to strengthen this position. Many people use novels as a source of entertainment by reading interesting stories that were developed by the author. The story will apply very interesting scenarios that appeals to the reader and creates a lot of reading suspense. The translation of the novel to a film brings forth other views that never featured in the novel in order to enhance the visual appeal. This means that I the process, there occurs lose in some of the original concepts while some new ones are added therein. As it is well put by Jenkins (2003), as content gets across the entertainment platforms, it is followed by enhancements through creativeness. This is termed as a distraction or corruption from the original concepts that were intended by the original author. When a concept is concept is drawn from a movie to a videogame, there are outright differences that are expected. In the first place, a videogame will be required to depict some flexibility so that the player is able to enjoy make their own manoeuvres. However, despite the differences in some of the content there are similar concept that are applied across the board. For example, in a real football match compared to a video football game like FIFA, the rules of football follow to the letter. The difference is that the players are real in one case and in the other one they are manipulated by the player respectively. Internet-Based Entertainment Use by Younger Generations The use of internet have attracted both the young and the old but not in an equal measure. In many spheres including use of internet for entertainment purposes, the young generation seems to be very much in tune with the developments as opposed to the older generation. In addition, the young generation has a lot of time at their disposal hence some have been obsessed by internet-based entertainment. It is therefore true that most of the consumers of on-line entertainment are young people that are thrilled by the new entertainment facilities within the internet. A substantial section of the older generation is unaware of the internet-based entertainment facilities within the internet as opposed to their younger counterparts. The internet provides a myriad of opportunities for young people to entertain themselves, some of which are not favorites for the older generations (Pecora & Gagnon, 1998). The use of social media has outstood not only as a means of communication but also for entertainment purposes. The internet acts as a spectacular source of entertainment for doing a myriad of activities including sharing and downloading pictures, videos, and songs. In addition, it is a good platform for playing networked games as well as for chatting and communicating with others. A number of aspects in the internet including thrilling stories and poems easily fascinate young people, they also get to have fun interacting with new media as opposed to some of the older people that are complacent and find it hard to adapt to change. Young people seeking acquaintances have dominated the social media hence it has become a major entertainment strategy. According to Boris (2011), in the United States up to 49% of the people that visit social sites do so exclusively for fun. When comparing the number of young people in social media sites, they are much more than the older people. This means that internet entertainment is highly ideal for young people. The explorative nature of young people coupled with the availability of much time at their disposal give them a chance to keep abreast with developing technologies. Such play a vital role in enhancing their skills hence they are able to have diverse entertainment platforms within the internet (Cabral, 2011). Through their studies, the young people are exposed to different materials and information which they go ahead to practice, some of which forms part of their entertainment. In addition, they are major victims of peer pressure hence they endeavor to do what their peers are doing. For example, a teenager that finds the other playing an online game will definitely go looking for ta similar experience. Such peer pressure is not prevalent among the older generation. Visceral-based Entertainment has a Future The digital age has brought forth both negative and positive implications to the entertainment industry. Visceral-based entertainment has attracted diverse groups of people across the world. These form of entertainment do not apply much logic or any form of reasoning but instead they are guided by emotions and feelings. In most settings, entertainment is considered as a way of relieving oneself hence there is need for one to relax their mind. For this reason, visceral entertainment has continued to attract diverse groups of people. Actually, alcohol and sports are very important forms of entertainment that have continued to attract many people. In this case, no reasoning or any form of intellect that is associated. Instead, people are guided by their feelings and emotions. This shows that visceral-based entertainment has a future. Another important aspect to consider is that people get to be engaged in their offices throughout the day working and afterwards look forward to forms of entertainment that does not involve much of their mental activity. For this reason, indulging in visceral activities such as watching sports, playing visceral games may be very beneficial. The use of internet has created a scenario where some sections of the society have become lazy since everything is at their disposal. This has resulted to growth of audience for visceral entertainment since they do not want to engage in much thought. Entertaining activities such as cycling are quite relieving; such activities have attracted diverse groups of people not only in Australia but also across the world. There are diverse forms of visceral-based entertainment that seems will continue to grow and are not destined to have and end any time soon. Life performances have become the order of the day in the recent years including stand-up comedies. Through such events many people have been attracted to them hence, there has been growth in entertainment industry courtesy of visceral-based forms of entertainment. This clearly reveals that visceral forms of entertainment will have a relatively long life span. The new developments that are being witnessed in visceral-based entertainment present very significant evidence that this form of entertainment on a growth track and it will definitely attract many. The Importance of Cross-cultural Entertainment Projects in Creating Cultural Understanding Entertainment is a very vital component of all the diverse groups of people from different cultures. It is apparent that some of the forms of entertainment conform to cultural affiliations. These entertainment platforms do not only provide entertainment but also help advance cultural awareness and recognition. Cultural tourism is one of the most significant aspects of entertainment. In the process of being entertained tourists get to learn about the cultures of other people. Cross-cultural entertainment brings forth togetherness among diverse groups of people. Each of the groups of people that is represented in these entertainment forums get to appreciate the entertainments that emanate from cultures that are different from theirs. They are likely to feel entertained since one’s culture may be less entertaining to them based on familiarity. Where there are many cultures depicting their varied entertainment, the events are likely to attract large groups of people hence bringing togetherness. As people converse and share in food and drinks, they are able to relate with one another; these can bring harmony and understanding in a nation. Another aspect is that cross-cultural entertainment promotes cultural tolerance. In this regard, each of the cultures are able to appreciate what others have to offer hence accepting them and embracing diversity. Cultural tolerance is very important not only for the sake of entertainment but also for the sake of the wellbeing of the communities. Through cross-cultural entertainment there is created a mutual understanding across the cultures hence people are able to treat other cultures as part of the diversity. Through this endeavor, culture is not viewed as a factor that integrates people but one that brings them together while entertaining them. Apart from fostering understanding and togetherness among communities from diverse cultures, there are different benefits that are obtained from cross-cultural entertainment. Firstly, it helps link the people of different classes I the society; both the rich and the poor are able to interact without much disparity. Secondly, these entertainment activities generate income that helps build nations, looking at it from a global perspective. Finally, these forms of entertainments can be used in different settings, both local and international. References Boris, C. (2011). More people are turning to the internet for entertainment.
