KIRSCHENMANN, F. (2009). Do Increased Energy Costs Offer Opportunities for a New Agriculture?. Monthly Review: An Independent Socialist Magazine, 61(5), 40. The article is a great article that adequately sums up the techniques involved with the transition from petroleum resources to other natural resources. The article is from a credible source and the author appears to be knowledgeable on the topic. The title shows the authors main focus which includes the higher prices for natural resources. The article questions whether or not the increasing prices will be beneficial to the industrialization of agriculture. The use of facts and other articles helps the author prove points. There article shows a large focus on the demand for natural resources in the future. The author also clearly defines what the future may be like with the use of other natural resources as the main source of energy supplies. PECHLANER, G. (2010). THE SOCIOLOGY OF AGRICULTURE IN TRANSITION: THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF AGRICULTURE AFTER BIOTECHNOLOGY. Canadian Journal Of Sociology, 35(2), 243-269. This article from the Canadian journal of sociology is a great article that offers a clear perspective of the demand the world has on food supply. Food supply is such an important topic and is a huge contributor to the concerns of many. Since mankind relies of food to survive, the article is able to raise awareness over future concerns and the need to conserve. One of the main focuses of the article is on the worldwide food shortage of 2007. This food shortage was an eye opener for many individuals and food suppliers. The author is determined to persuade that agriculture needs to be a more popular topic of discussion before an agricultural meltdown is faced. The article also explains how the industrialization of agriculture relates to economics and the impacts it has on the economy. Bronshtein, M. M. (1976). ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS IN THE INDUSTRIALIZATION OF AGRICULTURE. Problems Of Economics, 19(7), 77. This article is an older article but is quite useful as it is used to compare social problems in the industrialization of agriculture in the 1970’s versus problems in the twentieth century. This article is great in the way it allows focus on history of the industrialization of agriculture and contains many concrete facts and examples. In the article the author shows a large focus on the needs to make changes towards agriculture. The author suggests many different ways to improve agriculture so that demands are met and there is an improved quality of life. Using this article is helpful in determining whether or not improved quality was meant or if concerns still remain the same. Coffey, J. D. (1993). Implications for farm supply cooperatives of the industrialization of agriculture. American Journal Of Agricultural Economics, 75(5), 1132. The article is well written by an author from an American journal. The author appears to be knowledgeable on the topic. Throughout the article the author is clear on points trying to be made and backs up information with facts. The author uses a graph to clearly show and analyze findings. The citations are clearly stated and appear to be credible. The influences that the industrialization of agriculture has had on farm supplies are a part of the authors main focus. A large portion of the article is also spent on the way economics relates to agriculture and the cooperation of farming. Chakravorty, U., Fisher, D. K., & Umetsu, C. (2007). Environmental Effects of Intensification of Agriculture: Livestock Production and Regulation. Environmental Economics And Policy Studies, 8(4), 315-336. The article is a formulation of ideas, thoughts and finding of three different authors. The ability to have multiple authors allows for different viewpoints and makes the article less bias and more reliable on facts. The industrialization of agriculture is a focus and the way the industrialization of agriculture has affected developing countries. The authors use much of the article to sum up the regulation of livestock and its effects on developing countries. Overall, the article was well written and suggests the environmental factors that are changing due to the fast industrialization of agriculture. Rhodes, V. (1993). Industrialization of agriculture: Discussion. American Journal Of Agricultural Economics, 75(5), 1137. This one author article is an informative article located in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. The articles main focus is clearly stated in the main paragraph. The article explains the motivation behind the industrialization of agriculture and how the motives add or take away from the economy. The article portrays the agricultural industry as being an industry that makes up for a large part of the American economy. Although the article is short, the author is able to prove points and sum up relations between pork and other food shortages. Breimyer, H. F. (2011). Agricultures Three Economies in a Changing Resource Environment. American Journal Of Agricultural Economics, 60(1), 37-47. This article written by one author is very informative and shows how the economy has shifted into producing natural resources. The demand of natural resources is a focus of interest for the author. The article appears to be well written. The use of headings throughout the article makes reading and searching for ideas easier to read and understand. This was helpful because the article is larger in length. The author properly cites sources used and the facts are credible. The article focuses on the use of natural resources and the rise in prices over time due to demand. Nicholls, W. H. (1960). RESEARCH ON AGRICULTURE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. American Economic Review, 50(2), 629-635. This article is an older article that is helpful and different in the sense that it provides findings taken from performing research. Research is well organized and easy to understand. The author focuses on problems as related to underdeveloped countries and problems associated with under developed regions. There are no uses of graphs which would have allowed for better understanding of comparisons and findings. Since the size of the article is so large, it is apparent that the author had a well throughout analysis of research related to the analysis of agriculture and economic development.
