Title Name: Affiliation: Date: Movies Introduction Movies are part and parcel of the daily life since they communicate issues which are happening at the society. A movie can be used to represent societal norms in the past or even the current affairs which are in the country or society Thussu, D. K. (2002). Bollywood movies are naturally entertaining but in most cases they are described as thrilling due to their ability to educate and entertain. They caution against immoral acts and mostly, the movies will be focusing on morality. The essay will be focusing on three Bollywood three movies namely. The Tiger 2012, the three idiots 2009 and finally Shree 2013.the paper will reviewing and criticizing how these movies have been used to describe the Indian society and also the extent at which extent they can teach and impact positively in life today. However, it is paramount to getting the basic plot overview which will be pivotal in criticism and analysis (Jhaveri, 2010). The tiger 2009 First, the tiger is a Bollywood movie which talks about an Indian detective and how he ends up falling in love with a Pakistan woman though the two countries are particularly great enemies. Tiger has been a bachelor for a long time and it is his first time to fall in love and more especially to a rival girl. Tiger resides in New Delhi India, and he is admired bachelor by the local girls who actually see him as a potential husband and boyfriend too. Working in Research Analysis Wing (RAW), he is sent to Dublin to investigate a scientist who is believed to be working with Pakistan defense through sharing some scientific knowledge which could be used against India through nuclear attacks. In the process of chasing the professor, she meets Zoya who has disguised as a Professor House worker yet she is a detective from Pakistan. Tiger falls in love with her at first and for once in his life. On the other hand, Zoya finds that she loves Tiger. However, later they discover that they are both agents of rival countries and there is no way they go ahead and be lovers (Khan, 2012).Tiger goes back to India after realizing that. However, they meet again during presidential Summit and that point they plan how they can elope together. They manage to fool other detectives and finally they escape abroad. Despite further chase with intention to kill, they manage to love each other. The director asserts that the movie was based on a true story and it is classified as one of the most entertaining movies in Indi. The three idiots The second movie to evaluate and criticize is the three idiots. The movie tries to show the essence o f education. Should it make you a servant or should it somebody an actualize individual? The movie starts when Farhan and Raju are in the run to find their long and lost friend by the name Rancho. The three people were engineering students who were taking engineering for different purposes. Raju studied engineering so that he could help the parents to move from poverty while Farhan studied engineering only because his father had forced to become an engineer though he wanted to become a wildlife photographer.. However, Rancho studied engineering as a result of fun which he had when making machines and he came from a very wealthy family. The approach of Rancho towards education is for knowledge and self actualization but not wrote training which is associated with extensive cramming. The school principal who goes by the name Virus or Mr. Viru is the one who encourages rote training instead of practicality in education. Due to creative and unique way of answering questions, Rancho finds a difficult time with professors and particularly Viru himself who ends up nicknaming him an idiot (Hirani, 2009). He even calls Frahan and Raju and advises them against following Rancho since the friendship will only ruin them. The story is told through flashbacks. The interaction of Frahan and Raju leads to good ending after Ranju tries to commit suicide after he was chased from school by the principal. However, he recovers and Rancho helps him recover through changing his approach and eventually he becomes the best person ever. On the other hand, Farhan ends up becoming the wildlife photographer after affirming to the father that he never wanted to become an engineer. On the other hand, Rancho was not the person he used to say he was, but instead he was a hired boy who was to read and get a degree for the actual Rancho who was rich, but did not understand education. Finally, they manage to get a ranch in an area ere he has established very many machines which are used in working various activities. The movie ends and it shows that the education system of India especially engineering was based on clamming and many people studied for the sake of self actualization which they did not get In the long run(Hirani, 2009).). The Shree The third movie to evaluate is Shree which appears inform of soap movie. The movie talks about a commoner accountant who falls prey to prey as a result of greed of money. Hussein Kuwajerwala is an accountant who earns an average of 12,700 rupees per month which is meager for him. A scientist of who offers him a deal that will change his life forever. The professor has developed scientific technique which can save the world from disasters and this can only be possible if one human being will agree to gamble his life. Shree who is under siege by greed agrees with the deal since he does not know that his life is danger. However, the worst happens in the experiment and he has to face the repercussions both socially and personally. The film is quite difficult to comprehend especially due to the massive usage of Marathi and Bambaiya which are dialogues of Hindi. The role of Shree who is involve with Hussein does not play a huge role, but she speaks frequently mostly in the Hindi language. The movie basically tells so much about Indian families who are victims of greed. The main theme depicted in the movie is greed and stereotyping (KapuÌra, 2013). How these films portray the society These movies described above are mainly describing the Indian Society and the characteristics of the population. First, the tiger talks about the life of detectives and how difficult it is for them to have a decent life. Tiger is a senior bachelor and he has no family because he keeps travelling here and there. Moreover, Zoya is another detective from Pakistan who has advanced in age and yet she does not have a family or husband. The two are a good illustration of detective lives. Moreover, when they fall in love, the government is chasing them all over the world in an attempt to kill them. This the real thing the government does to detectives who resign or decide to fall in love with the” enemy.”Zoya and Tiger are hunted all over the world with an order to shoot and kill. Moreover, the movie was depicting how rival I countries especially in Pakistan and India and the deaths which culminate from the fight. For example, in the mission several soldiers and detectives die and all this can be attributed to rivalry between the countries (Gopalan, 2002). Considering, the three idiots, it is describing the kind of education that takes place in India. Most students do not go to universities to get knowledge, but most of them go there to pass exams and finally they get out of the university without knowledge. Knowledge is power but clamming makes one a servant. Cramming and passing examination is part of the Indian learning and that’s why you find very many amateur engineers. Students even commit suicide due to unnecessary pressure because they are forced to get content rather knowledge. For example, Joy committed suicide after he was denied a chance to redo his project in making a helicopter. Such cases are common and even the child of Mr.Viru committed suicide after he was forced to do engineering rather than medicine. More also, Farhan is forced to study engineering rather than wildlife photography which he desires. This s a common occurrence in many homes, in India. Therefore, the movie is an exact illustration of Indian society. Rancho who focused on knowledge becomes very successful person since he starts many companies and they ultimately help the community. He follows the principle of excellence and finally success chasing you. Shree also depicts the nature of most Indian young people. Greed is leading young people like Hussein to problems. He agreed to sign a deal simply because he could get finances it ultimately it leads him to problems (Gopalan, 2002). Accuracy of portrayal The portrayal is very accurate since the movies are set on real life stories. For example, the tiger movie was retrieved from highly classified files in RAW (Research Analysis Wing). It was describing the life of an Indian detective who was working on tight missions to the extent that he never had a family. He had saved considerable amount of money in his bank since he has never used his salary only because he has been on mission many days. More also, Zoya also depicts the life of female detectives and the roles they may play just to keep their countries safe. More also, the enmity between the two countries is also depicted in the movie and it is a real example KapuÌ„ra, R. (2013). Military advancements of any of the two countries serve as stress since they feel that it might be stress to the other country. In the case of three idiots, the movie was used to caution the parents and governments about the dangers of forcing children to do unwanted courses and wrote learning. The principal’s son commits suicide through train collision because he was forced to do unwanted engineering course. Moreover, Joy commits suicide after he was denied a chance to redo his which he had done for four years. This does not only cause chaos in the school, but at the same time the principal learns that he was actually very wrong. Wrote learning is evidenced by the other students who read very disgusting letter to the auditorium during a celebration since he could not understand the letter, but it was just mere cramming. More also, in the movie Shree, greed is real as it is depicted. People engage themselves in evil things through greed and later they learn the extent of pain they cause to family and friends. Therefore, it’s evident to assert that the portrayals are more than accurate (Jhaveri, 2010). Current and historical disputing the assertion However, the movies may be criticized through some historical evidences and current issues which assert the opposite. For instance, in the case of Tiger 2009, it was erroneous to fall I love with Pakistan detective because the genuineness of the relationship could not be determined. Maybe the girl was playing joke on tiger so that he could expose some secrets concerning the country. Upon getting information, she may later leave him and go back to her country. This could be very disadvantageous to the country since it would be seen as the betrayal which translates to treason. Therefore, the government had to chase him since historical information shows that women were used in seducing heroes and finally outdo their country (Jhaveri, 2010). Moreover, cases of weird love are noted where people fall in love with the enemies but ultimately such cases lead to death. For example, in the Holy Bible, there is a story of Samson, the Israelite, and Derilla the philistine who seduced the Samson and finally killed him. Therefore, the action of both governments cannot be disputed in an effort to kill the detectives. Moreover, the assertion by the three idiots that Indian education is merely rote is erroneous because there are so many efficient engineers in the country. Engineering is a call and only those who are talented should do the program. Rancho passes through the same wrote learning and emerges the best (Jordan, B. & M. Allinson.2005.) The learners are the ones to be blame, but not the system since they are the ones who emerge victorious in the same colleges. More also, Shree that ambition are evil but for real they are not. Hussein is a poor man but he must do something to get out of poverty and, therefore, something was to be done to change the situation. Therefore, the evil that befell him cannot be attributed to greed but just bad lack (Needham, 2004). Impacts of the films on the society Frankly, the movies have impacted positively on societies. This can be affirmed through interviews with people, movie ratings, comments and reviews. The movie which had great applauds is the three idiots. Parents learnt that it is not necessarily to force a child to engage in something he or she does not desire because it may lead to his death or even taking drugs. Farhan is a good example of students who are forced to do unwanted courses and the end is always disappointing (Nayar, 2004). The society has learnt that it is odd for such cases. The students have learnt that rote learning is not good and they should learn to get knowledge. More also, Shree teaches the society that the one should not take everything. They should always weigh situations and when the deal is too good, one should think twice (Ezra, E. and T. Rowden, eds. 2006). References Ezra, E. and T. Rowden, eds. 2006.
